Music as Therapy

I know those of you who are sane will already know this but it took a LOT for me to realise that the answer lay in music.

I have had one of those weeks where every day I felt like I got out the wrong side of the bed; it wasn't of all my own making - the husband has been challenging me with his words, behaviour and tone since Saturday onwards and it's been an upward struggle - this morning I could not even take solace from the various forums I am a member of, as it got to the stage where I thought if I hear one more human say ANYTHING remotely emotional I will eat my own head AND hat.

So the computer got turned off and Aaron and I went out in the sun.  We're only just back.

NORMALLY that would mean that while I washed the dishes I would have lbc 97.3 on, but given that I haven't got any room for voices in my head today I put Magic on (a channel I never listen to) and it is back to back music with no adverts and I was transported.

The first song was bon jovi, which was the absolute favourite of my best mate in secondary school - a warm glow enveloped me immediately and it was cheaper better than any therapy.

Next song up and I was being spoken to, but I don't know the name of the song, but the lyrics were certainly speaking to me and telling me to get on with it - my heart opened.

And once the last song had told me what I now need to do, the next song rather appropriately sang to me:
Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now

So this weekend I need to get my other website up and running, and more often realise, that therapy can be found in music, and the artist's chosen lyrics!

I am feeling much better than I did earlier.

To anyone spiritual who may be reading, this 2012 shit is really really hotting up.

I won't go into details in this post, BUT there is INTENSE planetary energetic stuff going on, and it'll hot up for 12/12/2012 and for Winter Solstice 21/22 December.

We'll be a new world after that.  We've been building up to this for over 20 years.

I've had THREE newsletters about it, and it took till the 3rd one for them to say you might have bad moods, nightmares and depression.  Yeah, er, thanks for that.  Had it all.  Wish you'd sent me that a week ago though so I could have been better prepared ;-)

But it is now time to hang on tight as the rollercoaster of life is just about to speed up.  Either hold on or fall off.

I am going to have a damn good try at holding on.

The Duncan's are front page news!

When I receive an email into my inbox with the title "OMG" my little gossip receptors go into overdrive, that's surely got to be something exciting to be worthy of a title like that!

The email in question came from a friend and former boss who, like me, loves a good story! The "OMG" worthy moment was to let me know that our wedding picture had made it onto the front page of the local paper back home. Now this confused me.... We got married 4 months ago and it wasn't anything spectacular or newsworthy, so why now?

I emailed the paper to thank them and ask why. They replied saying that they loved our photo and thought it was worthy of showing and someone, possibly my mother in law, had been on the phone to ask why it hadn't been in the paper yet. Of course she will deny all knowledge of this ;) lol

Anyway here is our debut on the front cover of the Banffshire Journal, next stop Vanity Fair :-P

The caption reads "Heather Robertson and Colin Duncan, formally of Williamson Place, Banff were married in the town and now live in Muscat, Oman". Why do newspapers insist on printing your street address?!

We had so many better pictures taken that day this one is no where near as nice as the rest but I am never happy. I look a bit of a creep with my protective hand claiming my prize haha.

Duvet Day - not!

I am having another day like Monday, where I want to climb under a duvet.

I did a rash thing yesterday and bought hosting.  For a new website/blog, not this one.  But I bought the wrong package and when I emailed their support I didn't really understand the answer.

The whole things scares me, as I am normally quite self reliant in most areas of my life.

Then today I am supposed to be doing housework for a friend to come to stay for the weekend tomorrow and there is just too much to do.

When I TRIED to make a start on it, Aaron put a wooden curtain ring in the toaster and pressed the DOWN switch - lucky I saw as that could have started a fire.

Then he covered the kitchen floor in water and then he put sugar in the steam iron.

In the end I phoned my friend and said I am finding getting reading for you to come stressful - now this is not me to do this - me is running myself ragged, doing it all, and then perhaps complaining afterwards.

But something is wrong with my wiring today.  I can't do it all AND I know it.

He was so relaxed about it and said we could go there instead which is actually a REALLY good idea.

So I need to look at train times and fares.

Also, going to a friend's for dinner tonight so I hope that is nice.

I have so many admin type things I need to do today but I don't think Aaron will allow that.

I think like Crystal Jigsaw I need to take a step back from blogging but the only trouble is, it is my escape from real life, so I just don't know where I will go if I don't blog.

But right now the sky is blue, literally and the sun is shining so I think OUTSIDE would make a VERY good start.

Does anyone know this Doggie?

Ladies & Gents of Muscat - Do you recognize this dog??

This dog was found this afternoon in the Azaiba area of Muscat. My husband almost ran her over with the car as she was running away from Indian men chasing her :( She saw his kindness and jumped straight into the car to be saved.

The vet has checked her over and she is healthy and well fed, she hasn't been out on her own for long. She has no ticks, fleas or illnesses and is a great natured dog, she is currently wrapped around Colin's feet having a cuddle as I type.

I really hope that she is just a pet that has lost her way and we can reunite her with her family soon and not just another dog that has been dumped on the street, sadly pets that are let out to fend for themselves don't last long out there.

Please get in touch if you recognise her or you can give her a temporary home until we find her family. For now I will call her Lucy :)

PS- This picture doesn't do her justice, she is much cuter in the flesh.

We Are One

The potato is connected to water.

Water is connected to the moon.

The moon is connected to the sun.

The sun is connected to us.

We are all connected to each other...

Why am I getting so deep on a Wednesday afternoon?

Well... Because... I went to the market today and spent £15 on fruit and veg and the trader told me we're facing the biggest potato shortage in 100 years.

In his 20 years in the trade he's never seen anything like it...

And it's because it was wet when they wanted to plant them...

Now I am sat in a cafe having lunch and the only reading material is a copy of The Sun where I am reading that the US once plotted to blow up the moon... But there were worries about its effect on tides... amongst other things.  Now that I am back home I have Googled it and it seems The Guardian wrote about the very same thing back in the year 2000, so I wonder why The Sun is writing about it today?

The moon yes does effect tides and as we are mostly water our moods and cycles are also effected...

It is a good time to talk about the moon with it being a full moon in Gemini today... 28th November 2012

So in the 28 days of the moon's cycle if you experience fluctuating moods you can balance this with kirtan kriya....

I should have told myself that when I wrote this bad mood blog post on Monday.  But then I haven't done any yoga since Aaron was born despite having been a teacher for 6 years....

I really need to step up to the mark... Today I dug out a jacket that is too tight. Don't get me wrong I am wearing it and it zips up... Just!!!

BUT I wore it till I was 6 months pregnant... it took being 6 months pregnant BEFORE it got tight.

So I am fatter now than I was when pregnant. I perish the thought.

I am going to be forty soon and do not want to be fat at forty :-(

So with that I spent £15 on fruit and veg today and am going to enthusiastically start juicing again.
